Updates from St. Columba - January 16-17

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Entrance:

1.         The King of love my shepherd is,

            Whose goodness fails me never;

            I nothing lack if I am his,

            And he is mine forever.

2.         And so, through all the length of days

            Your goodness fails me never;

            Good Shepherd, may I sing your praise

            Within your house forever.

Text: Psalm 23; Henry W. Baker, 1821-1877, alt.

Presentation:

1.         Where charity and love prevail,

            There God is ever found;

            Brought here together by Christ’s love,

            By love are we thus bound.

2.         With grateful joy and holy fear

            God’s charity we learn;

            Let us with heart and mind and soul

            Now love God in return.

3.         Forgive we now each other’s faults

            As we our faults confess;

            And let us love each other well

            In Christian holiness.

4.         Let strife among us be unknown,

            Let all contention cease;

            Be God’s the glory that we seek,

            Be ours God’s holy peace.

5.         Let us recall that in our midst

            Dwells Gods begotten Son;

            As members of his body joined,

            We are in Christ made one.

6.         No race nor creed can love exclude

            If honored be God’s name;

            Our family embraces all

            Whose Father is the same.

Recessional:

Verse 1.         Love divine, all loves excelling,

            Joy of heav'n to earth come down!

            Fix in us your humble dwelling,

            All your faithful mercies crown.

            Jesus, source of all compassion,

            Love unbounded, love all pure;

            Visit us with your salvation,

            Let your love in us endure.

Verse 3.         Finish then your new creation,

            Pure and spotless, gracious Lord.

            Let us see your great salvation

            Perfectly in you restored.

            Changed from glory into glory,

            Till in heav'n we take our place,

            Till we sing before the_Almighty

            Lost in wonder, love and praise.

YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH

Act of Consecration by St. Bernadine of Siena - O our beloved Saint Joseph, adopt us as your children and take charge of our salvation. Watch over us day and night and preserve us from all occasions of sin. Obtain for us purity of body and soul, and the spirit of prayer, through your intercession with Jesus. Grant us a spirit of sacrifice, humility, and self-denial. Obtain for us a burning love for Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, and a tender love for Mary, our Mother. Saint Joseph, be with us in life, be with us in death, and obtain for us a favorable judgement from Jesus, our merciful Savior. Amen.
