Fifth Sunday of Lent ~ March 21, 2021

Entrance: verses as needed

1.         From ashes to the living font

            Your Church must journey, Lord,

Baptized in grace, in grace renewed

            By your most holy word.

2.         Through fasting, prayer, and charity

            Your voice speaks deep within,

Returning us to ways of truth

            And turning us from sin.

3.         Unless, like grains of wheat, we fall

            Upon the ground to die,

We cannot share the gift of life,

Raised up, Like you, on high.

Psalm Response: Create in me, create in me a clean heart, O God.

Gospel Acclamation:

Praise and honor to you, O Lord, O Lord. Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Presentation: (for when Fr. Connolly is the celebrant)

1.         O Sacred Head, surrounded

            By crown of piercing thorn!

            O bleeding Head, so wounded,

            Reviled and put to scorn!

The pow’r of death comes o’er you,

            the glow of life decays,

            Yet angel hosts adore you

            And tremble as they gaze.

2.         I see your strength and vigor

            All fading in the strife,

            And death with cruel rigor,

            Bereaving you of life;

            O agony and dying!

            O love to sinners free!

            Jesus, all grace supplying,

O turn your face on me.

3.         In this, your bitter passion,

            Good Shepherd, think of me

            With your most sweet compassion,

            Unworthy though I be;

            Beneath your cross abiding

            Forever would I rest,

            In your dear love confiding,

            And with your presence blest.

Sanctus XVIII Chant

3. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi: dona nobis pacem.

Letra y música: Graduale Romanum, 1974.

Communion:

1.         I am the Bread of life.

            You who come to me shall not hunger;

and who believe in me shall not thirst.

No one can come to me

            unless the Father beckons.

Refrain

And I will raise you up,

and I will raise you up,

and I will raise you up on the last day.

2.         The bread that I will give

is my flesh for the life of the world,

and if you eat of this bread,

            you shall live for ever,

            you shall live for ever.

3.         Unless you eat

of the flesh of the Son of Man

            and drink of his blood,

            and drink of his blood,

you shall not have life within you.

4.         I am the Resurrection,

            I am the life.

            If you believe in me,

            even though you die,

            you shall live for ever.

5.         Yes, Lord, we believe

            that you are the Christ,

            the Son of God,

            Who has come

            into the world.
